Dr. Thomas L. Benson is the founder and President of the International Association for Senior Debate. He is the President Emeritus of Green Mountain College, an innovative environmental liberal arts college in Vermont. Dr. Benson taught for fifteen years as a member of the philosophy faculty at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he also served as the first director of the Honors Program (now the Honors College) and the first director of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. He is the co-founder of the ASIANetwork, a national consortium of 200 liberal arts institutions, and the founding chair of the board of directors of the Africa Network. Dr. Benson is a member of the board of trustees of the International Debate Education Association-USA. He has graduate degrees from Harvard University and The Johns Hopkins University.  He was twice
